Last weekend I got to take on yet another new role: clinician for a rock band! I’ve been a judge and clinician for the annual music competition hosted by George Westinghouse College Prep, and this year the fine arts faculty expanded the competition to include two groups full of great young rockers. I didn’t know what to expect from such an unusual role, but it was actually really fun to work with them on the songs that they prepared. Talking to these young musicians also helped me put my work into a fresh perspective—right in time for a bar gig later that evening! A life in music never ceases to run out of surprises, and last weekend was no exception.
Nor will this weekend: I’m going to be part of a video shoot on keys, then later traveling to Peoria to play bass with country song slinger Isaac Durst at Crusens. I’ll even find the time for a D&D session the next day.
Here’s a show I’m really excited to play! This Wednesday I’ll be playing with Ricky Liontones at the Cobra Lounge, along with Code Noir and Satin Banshee. You can still get tickets at Dice.fm!
